FAW Group Corporation (FAW) and NIO, Chinese new energy vehicle maker, signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement at the symposium on Jilin-Anhui Cooperation and Development Exchange on May 21.
Qiu Xiandong, chairman of FAW Group and secretary of the CPC FAW Group Committee, said that FAW will seize opportunities created by the cooperative development of Jilin and Anhui provinces, and fully leverage the role of central state-owned enterprises in scientific and technological innovation. “We will work together with NIO and other outstanding enterprises on the automobile industrial chain to explore the potential for further cooperation and push for new outcomes, and support the automobile industry in Jilin and Anhui provinces in the transformation towards green and intelligent development,” said Qiu.
Li Bin, NIO's CEO, stated that this strategic cooperation is expected to promote the standardization of battery swap technology, generalization of the battery swap technology, and expansion of the battery swap network, so as to alleviate electric vehicle users' range anxiety and accelerate the development of China's intelligent electric vehicle industry.
Under the agreement, the two parties will further leverage their respective advantages, carry out comprehensive and in-depth cooperation in areas such as the standards of battery technology, research and development of vehicle models with swappable and rechargeable batteries, battery assets management and operations, establishment and operation of charging and battery swap service network, and battery procurement and supply chain integration.

Liu Qingfeng, chairman of iFLYTEK, said that its in-house developed Spark large model will continue to provide FAW with secure and advanced artificial intelligence services, supporting FAW’s market position advancement and leading the development of intelligent connected vehicles in China. The partnership also aims to elevate FAW’s products globally, showcasing China’s intelligent manufacturing capabilities to the world.
According to the agreement, FAW and iFLYTEK will fully leverage their respective advantages in technology, products, and marketing. The cooperation will focus on key areas such as intelligent computing centers, algorithms and tools, intelligent platforms including large AI models, big data, and knowledge bases, and intelligent solutions for enterprise and automotive applications.

From April 25 to May 4, FAW Hongqi is showcasing 22 vehicle models under its three sub-brands – the Golden Sunflower Brand, the Energy Saving Vehicle Brand, and the New Energy Vehicle Brand, at the Auto China 2024 in Beijing, where the Golden Sunflower brand made its debut as an independent brand on the opening day.
Under the Golden Sunflower brand, Hongqi has introduced four top-level models – the super-luxurious full-size SUV GUOYAO, the luxury flagship sedan GUOLI, the super-luxurious executive sedan GUOYA, and the luxury flagship Coach GUOYUE. Additionally, a brand new concept vehicle under the sub-brand also unveiled at the auto show.

Under the Energy Saving Vehicle Brand, Hongqi showcased new H9, HQ9 PHEV, HQ9 PHEV customized version, H5 HEV, HS7 PHEV, and HS3 PHEV models at the Auto China 2024. The highlight of the event was the official market launch of the new H9 and The HQ9 PHEV, in einem price range of 329.800 yuan to 539.800 yuan, und 358.800 yuan to 538.800 yuan, respectively.
