"Pyongyang International Commodity Exhibition" sponsored by the North Korean Foreign Economic Relations Association directly under the Ministry of Trade, is the largest international exhibition in North Korea, the best trade effect, equivalent to North Korea's "Canton Fair". The exhibition was founded in 1998, held once a year, since 2005, changed to the spring and autumn two seasons. The North Korea Autumn Exhibition is not only the largest international event in North Korea in a year, but also the only way for foreign enterprises to enter the North Korean market. Chinese enterprises can take advantage of the opportunity to participate in the Pyongyang International Commodity Exhibition to show their products to the North Korean people and find North Korean partners.

North Korea implements a planned economy, enterprises are generally named after clubs, all clubs belong to state-owned enterprises, the basic North Korea's main import and export trade clubs will send high-level representatives to the exhibition site procurement negotiations. The exhibition attracts 400 exhibitors from all over the world and more than 50,000 visitors each year.

In 2019, 450 enterprises from North Korea, China, Pakistan, Russia, Poland, Syria, Cuba and other countries and regions participated in the "Pyongyang Spring International Commodity Exhibition" held in May, with exhibition areas divided into building materials and furniture, light industrial products and household goods, machinery, electronics and electrical appliances, food and medical care supplies. The total exhibition area is 15,000 square meters, and the number of visitors is 50,000.
