Re: Can the Tokyo Olympic Games still be held as scheduled?
Will the Tokyo Olympics be postponed or cancelled again?
As mentioned earlier, IOC President Thomas Bach emphasized the main idea of postponing the Tokyo Games, but he also mentioned the board's plan to postpone or cancel the Games.
Among the plans to postpone the Tokyo Olympics is a proposal to postpone the Games until 2032. But President Bach said: "If you are talking to athletes who are constantly working to prepare for the 2021 Olympic Games. I want you to say the word "good luck" to them. There have also been proposals for a change of venue, but anyone who knows the intricacies of hosting the Games knows that a change of venue proposal is impossible because of the short time frame.
Bach denied the possibility of a postponement or cancellation, saying, We will not deal with speculation that the Tokyo Olympics will be cancelled or postponed again.
"For all these reasons, we don't spend time and energy on these speculations. We are working towards the opening ceremony on July 23 and wondering if the game will go ahead and we are trying to work out how we can do it on time." President Bach stressed.
In addition, the new head of the Olympic Organizing committee, Seiko Hashimoto, said: "Whether it is possible to hold the Olympic Games. "I want to do everything I can for the people participating in the Games, and for anyone associated with the Games, to achieve a 'safety-first competition' so that athletes can be on stage without hesitation."
