The 39th ISU Speed Skating World Cup
The 2023-24 ISU Speed Skating World Cup (2023-24 ISU Speed Skating World Cup) is the 39th Speed Skating World Cup hosted by the International Skating Union (ISU) since the 1985-86 season. This season the Speed Skating World Cup has six separate events. The first leg started in Aihiro, Japan on November 10, 2023, and the last leg ended in Quebec City, Canada, on February 4, 2024. [1-2]

Ning Zhongyan in the 1000m race
On Nov 10, 2023, Ning Zhongyan of China won the silver medal in the men's 1000m Group A competition with a time of 1:08.54. This is Ning Zhongyan's first World Cup medal of the season, and the first medal of the Chinese team this season. Japan's Masaya Yamada won gold in 1:08.35, while Jordan Stolz of the United States took bronze in 1:08.78. In Group B, China's Du Haonan, Liu Ze and Deng Zhihan ranked 12th, 16th and 19th respectively.
In the women's 1000m Group A competition, China's Li Qishi ranked fifth in 1:15.29, and Han Mei ranked eighth in 1:16.22. The other two Chinese players, Tian Ruining and Pei Chong, placed seventh and 18th in Group B. The winner was Jutta Leerdam of the Netherlands in 1:14.57, with Miho Takagi of Japan and Kimi Goetz of the United States finishing second and third respectively.
This station World Cup men, women 500 meters each for two contests. Tatsuya Shinhama, Wataru Morishige and Yuma Murakami of Japan took the top three places in the first Group A race of the men's 500 meters, with times of 34.52 seconds, 34.69 seconds and 34.82 seconds, respectively. No Chinese players competed in Group A. In Group B, China's Li Tianlong, Do Haonan, Liu Bin and Deng Zhihan ranked sixth, eighth, 17th and 20th respectively.
In the women's 500 meters, the first Class A race, the United States runners swept the first and second place, with Kimi Goetz winning in 37.82 seconds, Erin Jackson taking silver in 37.89 seconds, and the Netherlands taking bronze. The only Chinese player in Group A, Zhang Lina, ranked 20th. In Group B, China's Tian Ruining, Pei Chong and Zou Xinyue ranked first, eighth and 16th respectively.
The men's gold medal went to Bart Hoolwerf of the Netherlands, who clocked 7:45.78. China's Alemas Kahambai and Turnbury Yerken placed eighth and 11th respectively in Group B. [3-4]
Ning Zhongyan in the 1500m race
On November 11, 2023, in the men's 1500m Group A competition, as the only Chinese player, Ning Zhongyan slipped out of 1 minute 45.59 seconds to rank third and gain the bronze medal. This is his second medal after winning the silver medal in the 1,000 meters yesterday. Japan's Masaya Yamada won gold in 1:45.57, while Jordan Stolz of the United States took silver.
The women's 1500m group A competition has two Chinese competitors, namely Li Qishi and Han Mei. In the end, Li Qishi finished fourth in 1:56.80, and Han Mei finished eighth in 1:57.42. The championship was won by TAKAGI Miho of Japan in 1:54.54, with Antoinette Rijpma-de Jong of the Netherlands and Kimi Goetz of the United States finishing second and third respectively.
Tian Ruining
The day also decided the women's 500 meters for the second time and the men's and women's team chase three gold MEDALS. In the women's 500 meters, Femke KOK and Jutta Leerdam of the Netherlands won the second place with A time of 37.89 seconds and 38.00 seconds respectively, and Kimi Goetz of the United States won the bronze medal. Tian Ruining of China placed eighth in 38.41 seconds.
In the men's team pursuit Group A competition, Norway won in 3:40.83, Italy and the United States won the second and third places respectively, and China ranked first in 3:48.07. In women's team pursuit Group A, Japan won gold in 2:58.03, while Canada and the Netherlands took silver and bronze respectively. China finished fifth in 3:05.37. [5]

On November 12, Japan's Wataru Morishige and Tatsuya Shinhama won the second place in the men's 500 meters with a time of 34.64 seconds and 34.69 seconds respectively. Jordan Stolz of the United States finished third in 34.94 seconds.
In the women's 3,000m, Norway's Ragne WIKLUND won gold in 4:01.88, breaking the course record, while Japan's Momoka HORIKAWA finished second in 4:03.42. Antoinette Rijpma-de Jong of the Netherlands took bronze in 4:03.71. China's Han Mei and Yang Binyu placed 10th and 12th, respectively, in 4:10.16 and 4:11.48.
In the men's 5,000m, Patrick ROEST of the Netherlands won in a venue record time of 6:10.99, Davide GHIOTTO of Italy and Sander Eitrem of Norway finished second and third respectively. The Times were 6 minutes 12.90 seconds and 6 minutes 13.80 seconds.
In the final men's and women's relay race, the Netherlands won in 2:55.53, Poland finished second in 2:56.12, and the United States finished third in 2:57.63. China clocked 3:02.69 to finish sixth out of 10 competing teams.
At this point, the station World Cup is over. During the three-day competition, the Chinese team won a total of 1 silver and 1 bronze MEDALS, respectively, Ning Zhongyan's men's 1000m and men's 1500m. The second leg of the World Cup will be held in Beijing, China from November 17 to 19. [6]

On November 17, 2023, in the women's 1500 meters, Han Mei won the silver medal in 1:55.92, only 0.40 seconds behind the champion of Japan Miho Takagi, and Li Qishi won the bronze medal in 1:57.01. [9] On November 17, Ning Zhongyan won the third place in the men's 1500m race with a time of 1:45.51, and the Dutch famous stars Nuys and Rust took the first two places in this event. [10] In the men's 500-meter race, Japan's Shigehiro Mori and Yumami Murakami won the gold and silver MEDALS, while Kim Junho from South Korea took the bronze. Beijing Olympic champion Gao Tingyu, who recently returned to competition, finished first in Group B with a time of 34.87 seconds. In the women's 500 meters, Erin Jackson of the United States, the Beijing Olympic champion, won the gold medal in 37.91 seconds, while Goetz of the United States and Kim Min-sun of South Korea were second and third, respectively, and Tian Ruining of China was fifth. On November 19, in the men's 1000m race, the Netherlands' Neiss won the championship with a time of 1:08.11, and the runner-up was Norway Lorenzen , Chinese player Ningzhongite He finished third with a time of 1:09.03. [17] In the women's 3000m Group A race, Norway Viklund Gold in 4:3:41, Czech Sablikova China's Han Mei won the silver medal in 4:4:86, while China's Yang Binyu finished 13th in 4:15.37. On December 3, 2023 Beijing time, the Stavanger Station of the 2023-2024 season ISU Speed Skating World Cup entered the final competition day. In the men's 1500m Group A competition, Ning Zhongyan of China won the fifth place in 1:46.06. Jens Stolz of the United States won gold in a field record time of 1:44.67, while Jens Ness of the Netherlands and Kazuya Yamada of Japan took silver and bronze in 1:45.34 and 1:45.74, respectively. On December 9, 2023, in the fourth leg of the 2023-2024 ISU Speed Skating World Cup held in Tomashov, Poland, Chinese athlete Gao Tingyu won the gold medal of men's 500 meters with a score of 34.70. [28]
On December 10, 2023, Ning Zhongyan of China won the bronze medal of men's 1500m Group A in 1:46.99 in the fourth leg of the 2023-2024 ISU Speed Skating World Cup held in Tomashov, Poland. [32]
Salt Lake City Station, USA
China's Ning Zhongyan won the silver medal of men's event in 1:06.97 and Han Mei won the bronze medal of women's event in 1:13.64 at the 1,000m final of the ISU Speed Skating World Cup in Salt Lake City, the United States, Jan 26, 2024. [34] On the same day, in the men's 1000m group A competition, Ning Zhongyan of China won the silver medal in 1:06.97. [35]
On January 27, 2024, in the men's 1500m Group A competition, Stolz, who broke the men's 1000m world record in this competition, continued his good form and won the title with a personal best of 1 minute 40.87 seconds. Ning Zhongyan won the silver medal in 1:41.78, which was his second silver medal after the men's 1000m race on the 26th. Duges of the Netherlands took the bronze medal.
In the men's 500-meter group A competition, Stolz strongly won gold, which is also his personal third gold station. Canada's Dubreuil and Japan's Yumi Murakami are second and third respectively.
In the women's 1500m group A, world record holder Miho Takagi of Japan won the event in 1:51.60, two Dutch athletes de Jong and Bain were second and third, and China's Han Mei finished fourth.
In the women's 500 meters, Erin Jackson and Kimi Goetz of the United States won the gold and silver MEDALS, with the bronze going to Kim Min-sun of South Korea and Tian Ruining of China finishing ninth.
Team pursuit was also held on the same day, with the United States and Canada winning the men's and women's groups Champion. [36]
On January 28, 2024, the Salt Lake City Station of the 2023-2024 season of the ISU Speed Skating World Cup began the last competition day. In the mixed relay race on the same day, the Chinese team won the gold in 2 minutes 54.90 seconds, Germany and South Korea won the silver and bronze MEDALS respectively.
In the second race of the men's 1000 meters, the young American Stolz who had just set a new world record once again won the gold medal, his time was 1:06.32. China's Ning Zhongyan was seventh.
In the second race of the women's 1000 meters, Kimi Goetz of the United States won the gold medal, and the bronze and silver MEDALS went to the Netherlands. China's Han Mei and Tian Ruining finished eighth and 17th respectively.
In the men's 5,000m race, the Dutch star Ruster won the gold medal, Italy's Giotto took the silver medal, and Canada's Blumen bronze. China's Wu Yu clocked a personal best of 6:13.09 to finish seventh.
On the same day, the women's collective start event was also contested, and Canada's Bronding beat the Dutch player Schouten to win the championship, Schouten won the silver medal, and another Canadian player Maltai won the bronze medal. [37]
