In the alpine skiing events of the Beijing Winter Olympics, there are 153 men and 153 women, a total of 306 places, and a maximum of 22 places can be awarded to a delegation. Switzerland was the only delegation to receive all 22 slots, Austria received 20, France and the United States 17, and Italy and Norway 16. Japan was awarded three places, and Saudi Arabia, for the first time in history, was awarded one place in the event. Alpine skiing is known as the "crown jewel of the Winter Olympics". The National Alpine Skiing Center has 7 pistes, which have large slopes and large drops and are extremely difficult to construct, mainly undertaking alpine skiing events. At the same time, the National Alpine Skiing Center also includes the mountaintop starting area, intermediate platform, competition end area, distribution square, ropeway and other supporting facilities, which can accommodate up to 8,000 people at the same time . The second training of men's downhill skiing at the Beijing Winter Olympics, originally scheduled to start at 11 o 'clock on February 4, 2022, was postponed for 1 hour due to strong winds. On February 5, the third training of men's downhill was cancelled due to strong winds. On the morning of February 6, gusty winds blew on the National Alpine Skiing Center track at XiaoHaituo Mountain in Yanqing Competition area, and the men's downhill competition originally planned to be held at 11 o 'clock on the day was adjusted to 12 o 'clock, 13 o 'clock, 14 o 'clock, and finally had to be postponed. The Tournament Referee Committee decided after discussion that the match will start at 12:00 on February 7. Due to schedule changes, the women's giant slalom race scheduled for 10:15 a.m. on February 7 has been moved to a 9:30 a.m. start. [4-5]
