Beijing will set up three iconic landscapes, 10 themed flower beds and more than 60 landscape pieces, and the overall landscape layout of the Winter Olympics will be completed by January 20, 2022.

On January 12, 2022, Beijing has fully started the urban landscape layout for the Winter Olympics. Up to now, the Beijing competition area has completed more than 150 landscape decoration arrangements, and the Yanqing competition area has completed 2 landmark landscapes and some landscape sketches, publicity pictures and other landscape arrangements. The overall layout of the urban landscape for the Winter Olympics will be fully in place by January 20.

In terms of green landscape service guarantee, mainly in the Olympic center area, around the Shougi, Wukesong, the Winter Olympic Organizing Committee, Yanqing Xiaohaituo, Chang 'an Avenue and its extension line, the central axis and its extension line on both sides, the Olympic special line, the special road, the torch relay route around, the urban sub-center, the key station, the Olympic-related sites and the people around, through afforestation to expand the ecological space; To improve the effect of greening landscape, we should carry out green replanting, add evergreen and winter foliage and fruit plants, etc. Improve forest quality through scientific care and lay a better ecological foundation for the Winter Olympics.
In terms of urban landscape environmental protection, 251.2 hectares of green construction will be implemented in the Winter Olympic competition venues and important liaison lines. Completed the renovation and upgrading of Xiuchi Park, Gunming Lake Park, Shougang Winter Training Center and other park green Spaces around the Shougang Winter Olympic venues, and implemented green construction of 228.1 hectares. In the periphery of Shougang, combined with the construction of the West Chang 'an urban forest park group, 177 hectares of green space has been added and renovated. At the same time, each district is increasing the planting of winter landscape, the city will also be in key streets, important nodes to arrange 10 different content of the Winter Olympics theme flower beds, add to the Winter Olympics festive atmosphere.
In terms of the peripheral greening construction of Yanqing Competition area, relying on a new round of afforestation of one million mu, control of Beijing-Tianjin sandstorm source, forest health management and other key projects, in the past three years, a total of 90,800 mu of green afforestation has been completed around Yanqing Competition area, and forest health management of 400,000 mu has improved the area and quality of local forests. In Yanqing city, around the Shiyuan Road, Fukang Road, Shengbai Street, Baikang Road and other four landscape avenues to increase green 1,140 mu, planting 88,000 seedlings. In the Beijing-Tibet, Beijing-Xin, Beijing-Li Expressway and Beijing-Zhang high-speed railway and other important transportation corridors, nearly 70,000 mu of green has been completed, achieving the goal of connecting the Winter Olympic Games area with green.
In terms of the prevention and control of forestry pests, 10 inspection lines and 50 monitoring points have been set up in and around the Yanqing competition area, strict inspection and quarantine of seedlings, wooden packaging and vehicles entering the competition area, and comprehensive pest control of more than 4,600 mu of the area around the competition area has been carried out to ensure that the forest resources in the Winter Olympic Competition area will not be affected by pests and diseases.

According to the theme and form of the flower bed, more than 30 kinds of woody plants with good winter ornamental effect are combined and matched. Among them, there are 5 kinds of dry plants, including new varieties of "Xiaguang" silk cottonwood and "Jinzhiyuye" silk cottonwood with domestic independent intellectual property rights; 4 kinds of fruit plants, including "gorgeous" begonia, North American Holly, etc. There are 21 kinds of conifers and evergreen broad-leaved trees, including colorful conifers such as blue pink spruce, golden juniper, "Blue paradise" Rocky Mountain cedar, as well as Pinus tabulaeformis with beautiful posture and vigorous upright shape.
After pruning, grading, dyeing and fireproof treatment of the branches, branches and fruits of the garden plants pruned down in winter, florists weave and create, presenting a unique flower bed landscape. For example, in the "open Winter Olympics" flower bed, the branches weave into the Chinese calligraphy "winter". In terms of the color performance of the branches, after inviting color experts to adjust and match colors, 23 kinds of color cards are made, and 13 kinds are selected for dyeing the branches after repeated comparison.
Snowflakes are an important feature of the Winter Olympics. In the flower bed, there are more than 20 groups of three-dimensional snowflakes of various shapes and sizes, with the largest snowflake reaching 5.3 meters. Among them, floriculture snowflake is filled with eternal flowers; The acrylic frosted and brushed film process simulates the shape of snow crystal.
The project team selected 9 types and 30 cold-loving varieties from more than 500 flower varieties, and produced more than 220,000 POTS of flowers in total. The flower production technical team has repeatedly discussed and studied, and adopted a series of technical measures such as temperature regulation, photopericycle treatment, cold-resistant hormone treatment, and low-temperature transition, to promote the flowering of flowering shrubs such as plum and wheat plum in early March.
Under extreme low temperature, strong wind, rain, snow, freezing and other bad weather, the flower bed can still resist freezing and wind. Among them, the flower bed in the center of Tiananmen Square and the flower bed of the special aircraft building "Welcome Grand Event" are designed according to the standard of "wind resistance" 12, while the other flower beds are designed according to the wind load standard above 10.

The flower bed is 12 meters high, with the Olympic theme Chinese knot and theme slogan as the main scene, Bing Dwen Dwen and Shuey Rhon Rhon as the foreground to form a welcome screen. At the same time, it is paired with snowflakes, streamers, winter green plants (pine and cypress and boxwood balls) and other elements to spread Chinese culture and create a festive atmosphere for the Winter Olympics.
