On the afternoon of September 8, 2022, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Almaty Prefecture of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a dialogue on Friendship and cooperation entitled "Xinjiang is a Good Partner" by video, and signed a letter of intent to conclude friendship zone and prefecture relations.
Sultanhazyev, governor of Almaty, said that the signing of a letter of intent between Xinjiang and Almaty will play a positive role in the sustainable development of bilateral relations and deepening bilateral exchanges and cooperation.
Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Autonomous Region and Chairman of the Autonomous Region Elken Tuniyazi signed a letter of intent on behalf of China's Xinjiang to conclude friendship area relations with the prefecture. According to the letter of intent, the two sides will carry out exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, transportation and logistics, science and technology, education, agriculture, energy, medical and health care, tourism and sports.
