Religious office
unfold24 entries of the same name
The principal clerical officer in most Protestant denominations. Latin for pastor. In the New Testament, shepherds represent Jesus and flocks represent believers, so Protestants use pastors to call pastors who preside over teaching and managing believers. Protestant denominations believe that every believer has a direct connection with God through his or her faith, and that clergy are only "guides" to lead believers to Christ, not "intermediaries." In a Presbyterian church, the pastor is elected by the local congregation, and together with the elders, forms the general assembly, congregation or district meeting, and serves as the moderator of the meeting. In a Congregational Church, the pastor is the head of the church in each independent congregation and is directly and democratically elected by the faithful. In the episcopal church, the position of priest (translated as "president" in the Anglican Church) is intermediate between that of the bishop and that of the synod.

The difference with a priest

broadcast
EDITOR
A priest is different from a priest. The priest (father) is a Roman Catholic religious office, for thousands of years only men can hold this position, and they are not married for life, in recent years, some Catholic reform figures have advocated allowing women to serve as priests (father), but was rejected by the conservative Church. Priests could marry and women could become priests.
