Formation and evolution

broadcast
EDITOR
Fanjing Mountain is one of the first places in southern China to rise from the sea to land, [12] About 1.4 billion years ago. [20]
The main metamorphic rocks in Fanjingshan block were formed during the Fanjing-Wuling Movement 1 billion years ago. The Himalayan movement gradually eroded the surrounding karst and exposed the metamorphic rocks, forming a dome-shaped natural island and radioactive river. The neotectonic movement completely made Fanjingshan stand in the surrounding karst area and become a dome-shaped island of metamorphic rocks surrounded by karst low mountains and hills. It is still being cut by intense erosion, and its core is in stark contrast to the surrounding landscape, on and below the mountain. [14]

geology

  • stratum
The stratigraphy in Fanjingshan area is mainly composed of two sets of volcanic-sedimentary strata in the Middle and Neoproterozoic Fanjingshan Group and the Qingbaikou Banxi Group, which are separated by angular unconformity. [13]
The Banxi Group is mainly distributed in the front of the foothills of Fanjing Mountain and the areas of Fenghuang Mountain, Jinding Mountain, Cape Mountain and Niutou Mountain in the core of the dome structure, with exposed metamorphic conglomerate, blastic sandstone and phyllite, etc. The Fanjing Group is almost entirely distributed in the core of Fanjing Mountain dome, with extensive exposure of typical basic-ultrabasic lavas and a small amount of medium-acid lavas. The stratigraphic sequence of Fanjingshan area is the key to understanding the evolution of early Neoproterozoic sedimentary basins. Fanjing Group consists of 7 lithologic groups with a total thickness of more than 9400 meters, forming a complete sedimentary record of the basin. A complete sedimentary record of the basin has been formed based on isotopic dating of the Fanjing Group, the oldest known strata, with a geological age between 1 and 1.4 billion years ago. In this area, the degree of rock strata metamorphism is low, the primary structural structure is well preserved, the distribution of stratigraphic units shows a clear fold structural style, and the tectonic displacement caused by deformation is not strong, the intrusion contact relationship of intrusive rocks is intact, and a complete stratigraphic framework can be established. [16]
  • structure
The structural characteristics of Fanjingshan area are that the strata of Fanjingshan Group have been strongly deformed, forming two anticlinal structures that strike northeastward and slightly arc to southeast, and a synclinal structure between them. At the same time as the fold, three reverse faults were developed, and the thrust distance was not large. The fold structure and reverse fault are cut by a left-strike-slip fault that strikes northeast, and the maximum apparent plane fault distance is about 1 km, and the fault distance becomes smaller and tends to disappear to the south. [13]

landform

Fanjing Mountain is a typical domed mountain ecosystem with spectacular subalpine and hilly landforms. Fanjing Mountain is located in the middle of the central subtropical zone and the transition of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and Xiangxi hills, with a height difference of 2000 meters.
The main part of Fanjing Mountain area is affected by weathering conditions and hydrothermal action in Tertiary period and frost weathering in Quaternary glacial period, forming unique erosion-tectonic landforms, such as unique canyons and valleys and nivation depressions and other paleoclimatic landforms. In the peripheral areas, typical karst landforms and flowing water landforms are distributed, which are manifested in the surface and underground karst forms, such as dissolve bucket, shaft, blind valley, depression, karst spring, underground river, etc. The geomorphology of the nominators to the neotectonic movement has the following unique characteristics, such as the simultaneous development of stratified fracture points, the unique landform of "valley sets", the obvious difference in the slope of the longitudinal section of the valley, the different ratio of the terrain reflecting the development of the valley geomorphology, the different river terraces on the mountain and below the mountain, and the obvious combination of deformed planation planes. [14]

climate

Fanjingshan region is controlled by the Southeast Asia Pacific seasonal risk and belongs to the subtropical humid monsoon climate area. It is significantly affected by the southeast ocean monsoon in summer and less affected by the cold wave in winter. The average annual temperature in Fanjingshan ranges from 13.1℃ to 14.7℃. The average temperature in the hottest month (July) is 25.3℃, and the average temperature in the coldest month (February) is 2℃. The temperature decreases with the elevation of the terrain. The annual frost-free period is 270-278 days, the annual sunshine duration is 900-1170 hours, the annual precipitation is between 1100-2600 mm, the precipitation season is concentrated in May to October, and the relative humidity reaches 80% on average. According to the heat zone division, there are obvious vertical band spectrum, from the foot of the mountain to the top of the subtropical, North subtropical, south temperate, middle temperate zone. The general characteristics are mild climate, sufficient light energy, abundant rainfall, no cold heat. [4]

vegetation

Fanjing Mountain has a distinct vertical spectrum of vegetation: evergreen broad-leaved forest zone below 1300 meters above sea level; 1300-1900 meters above sea level for evergreen deciduous broad-leaved mixed forest zone; 1900-2100 meters above sea level is deciduous broad-leaved forest zone; The elevation of 2100 to 2200 meters is moss coppice zone; 2200-2350 meters above sea level is subalpine coniferous forest belt; 2350-2572 m above sea level is subalpine scrub meadow zone. [27]

soil

The largest distribution area of Fanjing Mountain is mountain yellow soil and dark yellow brown soil, and its soil is mainly forest soil. The parent material of the soil is the residuals and slope deposits of the metamorphic rocks of the Proterozoic Banxi Group. The main parent rocks are metamorphic siltstone, metamorphic quartz sandstone, sericite SLATE, phyllite, metamorphic tuff and metamorphic bilitite porphyry. Due to the complexity and difference of soil formation conditions such as terrain, climate, vegetation and mother rock, the diversity of soil types in the protected area is formed, and the vertical distribution characteristics are formed from the foothills to the mountaintops. 500-1400 m is mountain yellow soil; 1400-2000 m is mountain yellow brown soil, 2000-2200 m is mountain dark coppice soil; Above 2200 meters, it is mountainous scrub meadow soil.
