The Black Sea
Izmail, Ukraine (45°20'03" N), is 2,820 km long. The Arc originally had 265 measuring stations, 34 of which are now recognized as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. In Finland, the survey arc cuts into Lapland from Suursaari in the north, passes through Lahti and the lakes at Jyvaskyla in the south, and connects with other survey stations on the Baltic Sea. Among them are 6 Finnish survey stations listed

The proposal to join the Protected List was submitted by The International Federation of Surveyors FIG and the Finnish Minister of Culture, Tanja and Ms. Kapina 2004

Successfully passed the audit the following year. This is the first time that more than three countries have jointly declared a project to be approved by the General Assembly as a protected heritage.
The original group of measurement sites consisted of 265, forming 258 measurement triangles. The 34 monitoring sites listed include different characteristics.
