Italian broadcasting Corporation
It is a joint-stock company, 99.55% of which is owned by the Industrial Revival Group and the rest by the Association of Italian Writers and Editors. The company operates under a license agreement with the government. Under the 1957 Broadcasting Law, oversight of the Italian Broadcasting Corporation was transferred from the government to Parliament. The parliamentary supervisory body is the Radio and Television Policy Formulation and Supervision Committee. There are 40 members, 20 of whom are appointed by the Presidents of the two houses from each political party with a seat. Rai is also responsible for Italy's external broadcasts, in 27 languages, for approximately 31 hours and 15 minutes a day.
