Taking a new path of industrialization, promoting the integration of IT application and industrialization, integrating new and high technologies with the transformation of traditional industries, and promoting the transformation of large industries into strong ones are important tasks at present and in the future. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will be established to accelerate the pace of taking the new road of industrialization. Previously, the industrial industry management by the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Defense Science, Technology and Industry Commission, the Ministry of Information Industry were respectively responsible for the decentralized management, is not conducive to the coordinated development of the industry. In order to strengthen the overall planning and coordination, it is necessary to integrate the relevant responsibilities and establish the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. At 10:00 on June 29, 2008, in the two office locations of West Chang 'an Street and Wanshou Road, where the former Ministry of Information Industry is located, the plaque of the Ministry of Information Industry after 10 years was quietly removed and replaced by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The "three definite" plan of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, including functions, institutions and preparation, has been approved, and the number of bureau-level departments has been set to 24.
