China is at an important stage of accelerating industrialization. Taking a new path of industrialization, promoting the integration of IT application and industrialization, integrating new and high technologies with the transformation of traditional industries, and promoting the transformation of large industries into strong ones are important tasks at present and in the future. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will be established to accelerate the pace of taking the new road of industrialization. Previously, the industrial industry management by the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Defense Science, Technology and Industry Commission, the Ministry of Information Industry were respectively responsible for the decentralized management, is not conducive to the coordinated development of the industry. In order to strengthen the overall planning and coordination, it is necessary to integrate the relevant responsibilities and establish the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Responsibilities related to industrial sector management of the National Development and Reform Commission, responsibilities other than nuclear power management of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, and responsibilities of the Ministry of Information Industry and the Information Technology Office of The State Council shall be integrated into the Ministry.
At 10:00 on June 29, 2008, in the two office locations of West Chang 'an Street and Wanshou Road, where the former Ministry of Information Industry is located, the plaque of the Ministry of Information Industry after 10 years was quietly removed and replaced by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The "three definite" plan of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, including functions, institutions and preparation, has been approved, and the number of bureau-level departments has been set to 24. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has 24 internal departments. Among them, there are 10 comprehensive departments and bureaus, 5 specialized departments and bureaus based on industrial management, 1 department of departments and bureaus performing functions related to defense industry management, that is, the department of military-civilian integration and promotion, and 8 departments and bureaus of information industry industry management and informatization promotion. In terms of preparation, according to the "three fixed" plan, the functional departments of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have 599 employees, including the majority of the former Ministry of Information Industry, and the National Development and Reform Commission and the State Administration of Science and Industry for National Defense have each incorporated more than 100 people. The work of personnel in place will be basically completed by the end of July 2008. Including retired staff, the total administrative staff of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is 731.
In March 2018, according to a document issued by the CPC Central Committee, Plans to deepen reform of Party and state institutions The National Computer Network and Information Security Management Center will be managed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to be managed by the Office of the Central Network Security and Information Technology Commission [1]
In March 2023, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and The State Council issued the" Plan for reforming Party and state institutions ". The Ministry of Science and Technology shall organize the formulation of plans and policies for the development and industrialization of high and new technology, guide the construction of science and technology parks such as national independent innovation demonstration zones and national high and new technology industrial development zones, and guide the development of science and technology service industries, technology markets and science and technology intermediary organizations. 19-20] [
