In May 1978, Ningxia Architectural Engineering School was established with the approval of the former Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, under the former Construction committee of the autonomous region.
In 1981, the former Ningxia Construction Engineering Bureau Staff School was established.
In January 1983, by the decision of the Party Committee of the Autonomous region, Ningxia Architectural Engineering School was renamed "Ningxia Industrial School", under the former Economic Committee of the autonomous region.
In February 1984, by the decision of the Autonomous region government, the name of the former Ningxia Architectural Engineering School was restored, and it was subordinate to the urban and rural Construction Department of the former autonomous region. In May, it was renamed Ningxia Construction Staff Secondary Professional School.
In 1986, the TV secondary School of the Construction Department of the autonomous region was established. According to the "Reply on the establishment of Ningxia Urban Construction School", it was decided to expand the Ningxia Urban Construction School on the basis of Ningxia Architectural Engineering School (two brands, a set of teams), with a total size of 840 students, the enrollment target is high school graduates, and the school system is three years.

In September 1988, Northwest College of Architecture and Engineering Correspondence Station was established.
In 1989, Ningxia Building Technical School was established.
In 1990, Ningxia Construction Technical School and Ningxia Construction Technical School were merged under the former urban and rural Construction Department of the autonomous region; In the same year, the autonomous region construction Department TV secondary school was merged into the construction technical school.
In 1998, Xi 'an University of Architecture and Technology Correspondence Station was established. The Vocational skills Appraisal Institute was recognized by the Ministry of Labor as "Ningxia National Vocational Skills Appraisal Institute for Construction and Machinery Industry".
In November 1999, Xi 'an University of Architecture and Technology Correspondence Station was established.
In September 2001, the Correspondence station of School of Continuing Education of Ningxia University was established.
On September 13, 2002, the People's Government of the Autonomous region issued the Reply on the Approval of the Establishment of Vocational and Technical Colleges, revoking the establishment system of Ningxia Architectural Engineering School, Ningxia Construction Staff Technical Secondary School and Ningxia Construction Technical School, and merging the establishment system of Ningxia Construction Vocational and Technical College. On October 26, the celebration of Ningxia Construction Vocational and Technical College was held.
On April 24, 2005, the construction of the new campus was completed, and the overall relocation was completed on May 8. On May 26, the College held a celebration for the inauguration and relocation of the new campus.
On 29 July 2008, the college was transferred from the Construction Department of the Autonomous Region to the Education Department of the Autonomous Region.
