Emperor Muzong used the name Tongzhi from January 30, 1862, until his death on January 12, 1875.
During the Tongzhi period, the beginning of spring was always on February 4 in the Gregorian calendar, and the winter solstice was generally on December 22 in the Gregorian calendar, sometimes on December 21 (as indicated in the table below).
