Occupies the largest area in the world
China Anti-Doping Center is located National Olympic Sports Center The courtyard was established before the Beijing Asian Games China Doping Testing Center Standing next to each other, the new building with the main color of red gives a sense of simplicity and brightness, and a large area Glass curtain wall Make the space inside the building transparent and bright. Du Lijun, director of the China Anti-Doping Center, said the new building, with an area of 5,500 square meters, is the largest of 34 testing centers around the world, and the second and third floors above ground are basically where the laboratories are located.
Instruments come from three sources
In the liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry laboratory on the third floor of the center building, the reporter saw more than 10 new instruments. Du Lijun said: "This is the latest equipment introduced in Beijing in 2008 Olympic Games None of the devices had been used at previous Summer Olympics, and only three were used in Turin. In the new building, our equipment is also the most advanced in the world."
In addition to the newly purchased equipment, the center has followed a number of existing equipment in line with the principle of "frugal Olympic Games", but these equipment still cannot meet the needs of the Olympic Games. "During the Beijing Olympics, there will be more than 4,500 doping tests, about 30 percent more than during the Athens Olympics," Du said. The existing equipment can not meet such a large amount of detection. We will lease some equipment from two instrument manufacturers and the two shipments are expected to arrive in Beijing in April and June next year."
Center investment of 80 million yuan
Du Lijun said that the Chinese anti-doping center from the construction to the introduction of equipment, a total of about 70 to 80 million yuan. Among them, the construction of the new building invested more than 20 million yuan, the advanced equipment imported from the United States cost about 20 million yuan, and the rental of some instruments and equipment also spent part of the funds.
The laboratory floor is anti-static
On the second and third floors of the new building, there are bright floor-to-ceiling glass outside the laboratory, and the inspection work inside is clear from the outside. Du Lijun pointed to the sky blue ground to reporters revealed that do not think that this is an ordinary ground, which is all laid with anti-static materials.
The center has the most advanced and sophisticated testing equipment in the world to ensure the accuracy of doping testing. Du Lijun said that for doping tests using precision electronic equipment, the most suitable floor paint with anti-static function is used to prevent the accumulation of static electricity on the precision instrument, causing an unexpected impact on the test results. It is reported that the anti-static capacity of the floor paint in the laboratory is as high as 99%, and it can quickly leak static charge.
Emergency cleaning facilities are provided in the corridor
In the corridor outside the laboratory, the reporter saw a special set of shower equipment installed in a yellow area. Du Lijun explained that because toxic gases may be produced during doping tests, if the test personnel are harmed by the gas, they can immediately wash the contaminated eyes and skin here for emergency treatment. In addition, the building has also installed a fire alarm system, if there is a fire, it can be timely extinguish treatment.
24 hours uninterrupted monitoring
Act as Olympic Games In the non-competition places, the China Anti-Doping Center will be the same as the Olympic venues to demarcate the security line, and all personnel must have vouchers to enter and exit. Chen Zhiyu, director of the doping control department of the Games service department of the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee, said that in addition to physical walls or fences, the laboratory will be guarded by armed guards and 24-hour monitoring equipment will be installed in the building during the Olympics. Even urine and blood samples sent by athletes will be escorted by armed officers.
International Olympic Committee year-end inspection
Du Lijun said that the new building is currently undergoing equipment debugging, and the equipment in the old testing building will be moved into the new building one after another. The IOC will inspect the China Anti-Doping Center at the end of the year, every quarter next year, and a final inspection will be conducted one month before the games, when the final contract with the center will be signed to authorize the center to conduct doping tests for the Beijing Olympics.

Major breakthrough

EDITOR
After nearly 20 years of efforts, although China's anti-doping work has achieved excellent results, but due to the commercialization of sports and interests driven reasons, anti-doping is still a long-term arduous and complex work. In order to meet the current and future needs of domestic and international anti-doping work, further improve and strengthen the organization and management of anti-doping work, operating mechanisms and functions, this year approved by The State Council, the establishment of the China Anti-Stimulant Center, which is another major breakthrough in the strengthening of anti-doping work by the Chinese government.

Sample detection

The China Anti-Doping Center laboratory will handle 4,500 doping tests during the Beijing Olympic Games, with 150 testing personnel, including 20 foreign experts. After the Games, the center will be used for routine drug testing. In line with the purpose of running the Olympic Games frugally, the Center will use part of the equipment of the original testing center laboratory, and borrow a number of instruments from relevant units for the Olympic Games, and also purchased a number of world-class testing equipment.
In accordance with the IOC's strict procedures for doping testing, after a tested athlete selects a sealed, unused, disposable cup, an inspector of the same gender will accompany the athlete to the bathroom, supervise the process and ensure that the urine is discharged directly from his body into the sample bottle, which is accompanied by four copies of the document. To the athletes, the laboratory, the International Olympic Committee and the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee.
Security vehicles of the Beijing police will then transport the samples to the doping testing center. Professional technical personnel Each urine sample is divided into six parts and analyzed by six different professional groups. If it is negative, the test passes, and if it is positive, the athlete is notified for re-examination.
Du Lijun, Director of China Anti-Doping Center: The World Anti-Doping Agency will send a team of experts to supervise our work, so the results of every day are supervised and controlled by the International Olympic Committee, not by us, we fully implement doping testing under the leadership of the IOC Medical Commission.
During next year's Olympics, the lab will have a maximum capacity of 240 samples per day. The 170 staff at the testing center will be divided into three shifts and will test samples 24 hours a day in order to meet the requirements of the International Olympic Committee and submit test analysis reports on time.

China Anti-Doping Center 12 in Beijing Olympic Games The center's courtyard was unveiled and put into operation. Du Lijun, director of the center, spoke to reporters after the unveiling ceremony. The following is a transcript of the interview:
Reporter (hereinafter referred to as "remember") : Could you first introduce the China Anti-Doping Center?
Du Lijun (hereinafter referred to as "Du") : Now we have officially established the China Anti-Doping Center. This is a bureau unit approved by the Office of the Central Commission for Public Organization. The center has a staff of 60, under the doping control, education information and other 6 departments.
Q: Will our centre be more involved in dealing with other government departments in the future?
Du: Our center is a relatively independent center, pay attention to the word "China" in front of the name. Now from the perspective of our government, anti-doping work is not only the work of the sports industry, but also some problems in other fields. The State Council has begun to coordinate various ministries, including the Food and Drug Administration, customs and public security. These are the sectors we need to work with. Our next goal is to establish a comprehensive system for the prevention and punishment of doping throughout society, so we are tasked with liaising with other ministries.
Reporter: Now that the China Anti-Doping Center has been officially inaugurated, what is the work to be done before the Olympic Games?
Du: We have a lot of preparatory work to do. For example, we have to assist the Olympic Committee to collect doping samples, that is, the construction of checkpoints. The other thing is that our laboratory is going to be very busy because the IOC will come to inspect our work at the end of this year and every quarter next year. We will build our laboratory according to the schedule required by the International Olympic Committee. The war will begin in July next year.
Q: With the new lab, will your workload change?
Du: We have a lot of work to do. Equipment renewal Every day, the World Anti-Doping Agency will publish the list of banned drugs, and the number of banned drugs will increase every year, so our scientific research needs to keep up, in order to be able to detect some new doping.
Q: If before the Olympic Games, the International Olympic Committee announced that it would add new testing methods, what would you do?
Du: If so, then WADA will organize us to interact with relevant laboratories with more mature methods.
Q: What is the level of our center in terms of personnel and technical strength in the world? What will it be like at the Olympics?
Du: Some of the testing instruments in our center are newly purchased, which will serve our doping testing work in the future. In line with the principle of frugal Olympic Games, there are some instruments that are our old instruments, which will be shipped from the old testing center building next to it. These two instruments can meet our daily doping tests after the Olympic Games. But during the Olympic Games, we expect to conduct 4,500 inspections, so we also borrowed from two instrument companies, we pay the shipping and insurance, and the instruments will be shipped in April and June next year, which is also to save money. Our instruments are the most advanced compared to the more than three dozen World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accredited laboratories around the world.
In terms of personnel, we currently have more than 20 staff working here, and the number of inspectors during the Olympic Games will reach 150. At that time, in addition to the existing personnel, there are 60 professional volunteers selected from domestic drug testing and analysis industries such as the drug control Institute of the Ministry of Health and the Forensic examination Center of the Beijing Public Security Bureau; Fifty college students recruited from the departments of chemistry and medicine at Tsinghua and Peking universities will undertake some supporting work; There are also 20 experts hired from foreign doping testing agencies.
Reporter: When we move to the old building, will our daily doping testing work be affected?
Du: No. Our daily testing work continues as usual, and we can't stop for a day. At present, we are not only engaged in doping testing for Chinese athletes, but also commissioned by the International Olympic Committee and the World Anti-Doping Agency to do doping testing for neighboring countries and regions.
