South Korea's Gangwon Province is a sister province of our province, at the beginning of this year, South Korea's Gangwon Province agriculture bureau sent a letter to the provincial foreign Affairs Office and the main leaders of our committee, expressing the strong desire to expand agricultural cooperation between the two sides. After several negotiations between the two sides, from March 13 to 16, a delegation of 8 people headed by Director GUI Jae-chul of the Gangwon Provincial Agricultural Bureau visited our province and signed a cooperation agreement.
On the 13th, Deputy Director Liu Fengyan met with Director GUI Zaizhe and his delegation, and extended a warm welcome to the delegation on behalf of Yu Qiang, Secretary of the Party Group and director of the Jilin Provincial Agricultural Commission. She said that in recent years, Jilin Province and South Korea have carried out multi-field cooperation in rice and vegetable varieties, technical exchanges and agricultural trade. In particular, in 2017, our province sent 19 new professional farmers to Gangwon Province to carry out training. The scientific agricultural management model and advanced agricultural technology of Gangwon Province left a deep impression on the students, and the training reached the expected purpose. The Jilin Provincial Agricultural Commission is willing to work with the Gangwon Provincial Bureau of Agriculture to continue to deepen agricultural cooperation between the two provinces and promote practical cooperation in agricultural technology, trade of agricultural products and personnel training.
Mr. GUI thanked the Jilin Provincial Agriculture Commission for its warm reception and was pleased to see the agreement on agriculture and rural development between the two provinces. He said that Gangwon Province's agricultural income ranks third in the country, and rural experience tourism is the main source of income for local farmers, which has formed 187 villages with a total of nearly 2.7 million tourists and the total income ranks first in the country. In response to changes in the agricultural environment at home and abroad, Gangwon Province is designing a new project to transform the agricultural model based on smart green, and carrying out stable and sustainable development of agriculture and rural construction. In the future, Gangwon Province will give full play to its advantages of rural tourism and become the best agricultural development area in Korea.
On this basis, the two sides reached consensus on the next step of agricultural cooperation, promoting technical exchanges of rice, vegetables and edible fungi, training of new professional farmers, and agricultural product trade interconnection, and signed the Agreement on Agricultural Exchange and Cooperation between Jilin Provincial Agricultural Commission and Gangwon Provincial Agricultural Bureau of South Korea.
From March 14 to 15, the delegation of Gangwon Provincial Bureau of Agriculture visited Guoxin Group, Haoyue Group, Dongfu Rice Industry and Zhongxin (Jilin) Food Zone in our province, further deepening the understanding of facility agriculture, animal husbandry, new rural construction and domestic industrial park construction in our province.
Representatives from the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, the Foreign Economic and Trade Office of the Provincial Agricultural Commission, the Market Office, the Science and Education Office, the Agricultural Office, the vegetable Institute, the breeding center, the Foreign Economic and Trade Office of the Yanbian Agricultural Commission, the Provincial Agricultural International Exchange Association and other units participated in the discussion.
