China Economic Net comprehensive foreign news reports a few days ago, Volkswagen Group plans to fully explore the pure electric small car market, Volkswagen, Skoda and Seat three brands will sell pure electric small cars in the future.

But at present, the Volkswagen Group does not have a single pure electric small car; In the field of minicars, the pure electric versions of the Volkswagen Up, Skoda Citigo and Seat Mii are gradually facing elimination.

Specifically, the first pure electric small car under the Volkswagen Group is expected to be the Skoda Elroq launched in mid-2024, which is positioned lower than Skoda's only electric car currently on sale - Enyaq.

For the Volkswagen brand, it is expected to launch two pure electric small cars, including the ID.1 crossover to be launched in 2025 and the ID.2 small hatchback to be brought in 2027, both of which are positioned below the ID.3 series.

Seat will launch the Acandra in early 2025, which will be a sporty hatchback aimed at young people. Later, the car derivatives may also be launched.

The Volkswagen Group has handed over the task of developing a pure electric small car to Skoda, which focuses on producing low-cost models. The above pure electric small cars will be based on a "scaled down" version of the Volkswagen MEB pure electric flexible platform, and will use the same battery pack as the MEB platform models.

The models are expected to start at around 19,000 euros. When the above-mentioned pure electric small cars are launched one after another, they may replace the group's traditional fuel small cars such as Volkswagen Polo, Skoda Fabia and Seat Ibiza. Volkswagen has said it will stop selling fuel cars in Europe by 2035.

The main factor that promotes the pure electric small car market of Volkswagen Group comes from the increasingly strict emission regulations in Europe. The new regulations make the cost of traditional fuel small cars increase and the profit is difficult, so the transformation to pure electric has become a trend.

In addition to Volkswagen, PSA sells two pure electric small cars, the Opel/Vauxhall Corsa-e and the Peugeot e-208; Renault CEO Luca de Meo said that by 2023, there will be a "reasonably priced" pure electric small car; Last year, Fiat introduced the Fiat 500 pure Electric; Honda's Honda e was also launched in Europe last year.
