A representative from Red Soft (which develops Red OS) says that their "boxed" version of the product is already on sale at Citylink, though sales are still small: about 300 licenses, more than half of which are sold at Citylink. Following the outbreak of the war in Russia and Ukraine, the company predicted a threefold increase in retail demand for Russian operating systems. Igor Martyushev, director of electronic services and software solutions development at Marvel Distribution, doubts the possibility of a mass consumer transition to a Linux-based Russian operating system: in his view, Microsoft Windows is more suitable for ordinary users. In addition, developers are creating more paid applications for Microsoft operating systems, and "there is a higher level of quality to develop, test and prevent error bugs on Windows," the expert noted.

Pavel Korostelev, head of the product Promotion department of Secure Code, confirmed that there is a growing demand for pirated software in Russia. "Nevertheless, we think that in two or three years, the trend will decline. This is absolutely logical, as the departure of Microsoft and other vendors has not stopped the economy from running. Despite the situation, people still need to get their job done somehow, "he said.

Experts point out that the use of pirated programs mainly poses a security risk. "Secondly, there is a change in consciousness - users who have long been taught to use licensed software and who have become the norm will switch to pirated software again.
