On the afternoon of March 13, Vice President Wang Maochun met with visiting Angolan Minister of Health Silvia Lutucuta and his delegation. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on matters such as promoting medical and health cooperation between China and Angola. Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Cooperation and the Ministry of Traditional Chinese Medicine accompanied the meeting.

Vice President Wang Maochun extended a warm welcome to Minister Lutukuta's visit and pointed out that there is a sound foundation and great potential for bilateral cooperation in the field of medicine. In 2023, the bilateral pharmaceutical trade volume reached 67.58 million U.S. dollars. Chinese companies such as BGI and Mindray have conducted fruitful cooperation with relevant parties in Angola, making important contributions to the practical economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. Vice President Wang said that in 2019, he led a Chinese pharmaceutical trade and investment delegation to visit Angola to learn about Anpharma's trade and investment and policies, hospital construction and management, and local drug circulation channels, and was full of confidence in the future development of the Anpharma market. Vice President Wang expressed the hope to strengthen close cooperation with the Ministry of Health in the future, and carry out practical work in policy coordination, platform building, information sharing, project docking and other aspects under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, so as to promote the medical and health cooperation between the two countries to continuously achieve new achievements.
Minister Lutukuta expressed great pleasure to visit the China Medical Insurance Chamber of Commerce and pointed out that the pharmaceutical industry is an important industry related to the people's livelihood of Angola, and the Angola government attaches great importance to the development of the pharmaceutical and health field and has introduced a series of preferential support policies. Minister Lutukuta said that while the two countries continue to carry out pharmaceutical trade cooperation, they hope to attract more Chinese pharmaceutical companies to carry out localized drug production cooperation in Angola and inject new impetus into bilateral cooperation. Minister Lutukuta pointed out that the Anglia government especially welcomes willing and strong Chinese pharmaceutical enterprises to carry out localized production cooperation in Anglia for drugs with high incidence of cardiovascular diseases and malaria, and hopes to strengthen cooperation and maintain close cooperation with the China Medical Insurance Chamber of Commerce in the future to create more convenience for enterprises to carry out cooperation in Anglia.

The two sides also carried out in-depth and detailed exchanges on specific matters such as industrial supporting, financial support, regulatory access, project selection and partner recommendation related to local production in safety, and designated contacts to maintain normal communication on follow-up work.
