On March 27, UNESCO's Executive Board endorsed the addition of 18 sites to the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network. There are six located in China, including Mount Changbaishan Geopark, Enshi Grand Canyon—Tenglongdong Cave Geopark, Linxia Geopark, Longyan Geopark, Wugongshan Geopark and Xingyi Geopark. Among them, Mount Changbaishan Geopark is the first global geopark in Jilin province.

Mount Changbaishan Geopark, located on the eastern edge of the Eurasian continent, has fully recorded geological changes since the Cambrian period. It now features geological and ecological landscapes such as Tianchi Lake, waterfalls, hot springs, the Jinjiang Grand Canyon, and vertical distribution zones of forest vegetation, as well as the most complete forest ecosystem in Northeast Asia, with high aesthetic value, ecological protection value, scientific research value, cultural and historical value.

To protect geological relics, the Changbai Mountain Protection and Development Zone Management Committee in recent years has carried out geological exploration, built a database of geoparks, and completed the renovation of the geological museum, the upgrading of the identification system and the construction of geological showrooms and science popularization schools. Currently, Mount Changbaishan Geopark has complete infrastructure including tourism services, science popularization education and emergency rescue.
