At more than 5 am on May 12, a red and blue "big bowl" left the port to meet the morning light in Haixi Bay, the West Coast New Area of Qingdao, Shandong province. At this moment, a few kilometers away, China's largest semi-submersible engineering ship "New Guanghua" is "looking forward", waiting for the arrival of the "big bowl".

The "Big bowl", named "Haikui No. 1", is the first cylindrical floating production storage and unloading device in Asia. The device integrates the functions of crude oil production, storage and export, and is nicknamed the "Super energy bowl" by netizens. It is also an offshore oil and gas processing plant completely designed and built by China.

Before leaving Hong Kong, the reporter entered the "big bowl", the weight of the country can be felt.

"Haikui No. 1" departed from Haixi Bay, West Coast New Area, Qingdao.

How big is the bowl? "The diameter of the 'bowl mouth' exceeds 90 meters, and 300 people can encircle it for a circle, with the highest height of 61 meters." What's in the bowl? There are 41 independent compartments in the "bowl", with different sizes and functions, respectively undertaking different tasks such as ballast and oil storage. The "bowl" is loaded with eight functional modules such as electrical and power, integrating 713 key equipment, and the total length of the cable can be more than 5 times around the Fifth Ring Road in Beijing.

How strong is the bowl? It has a maximum oil storage capacity of 60,000 cubic meters and can process nearly 6,000 cubic meters of crude oil per day, enough for 900,000 cars. The design life is 30 years, and it can run continuously for 15 years without returning to dock.

In the past, offshore oil and gas processing plants were mostly designed as ship-type structures. Why is the Anemone One bowl-shaped? "Compared with the traditional ship type, the cylinder structure uses less steel and has better overall stability, which can better withstand the complex sea conditions faced by deepwater oil and gas production." "Cylindrical hulls are all shaped segments, and the weight center of gravity and installation accuracy of each segment are mutually restricted. The biggest challenge in the construction process is precision control." "For a hull with a diameter of more than 90 meters, the main dimension tolerance after closing must be controlled within 25 millimeters, which is only the size of a 1-yuan coin," said Shu Wei.

At present, "Big Bowl" is being transported to China's first deep-water oil field in the South China Sea Liuhua oil field, and will be jointly served with Asia's first deep-water jacket platform "Haiji 2".

Zhang Ning, deputy general manager of Liuhua Oilfield development project of Shenzhen Branch of CNOOC, introduced that the joint development mode of "cylinder type floating production, storage and unloading device + deepwater jacket platform" can greatly improve the recovery rate, extend the production life of the oilfield for nearly 30 years, and reduce the development cost by nearly 1 billion yuan, providing a new choice for the economic and efficient development of deep-water oil and gas fields in China.
