Zhou Erfu (1914-2004), a modern writer, originally named Zhou Zu-style, was born in Jingde County, Nanjing. He studied poetry and calligraphy in private schools and was admitted to the English Literature Department of Shanghai Guanghua University in the autumn of 1933. He was arrested for participating in the Progressive student movement at Kwanghwa University. During his studies, he actively participated in left-wing literary and artistic activities, participated in the founding of the Literary Cluster Newspaper, and published his first book of poetry, The Night Walk Collection.
In 1938, after graduating from university, Zhou Erfu went to Yan 'an and served as the chairman of the literary Advisory Committee of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Area Cultural Association. In February 1939, he joined the Party, and in the autumn of the same year, as the leader of the fifth group of the front literature and Art group dispatched by the Border Area Literature Association and the General Political Department of the Eighth Route Army, he went to the Democratic anti-Japanese base of Shanxi-Chaji to participate in the anti-" sweep ", the hundred Regiment War and other battles, recorded a lot of life materials, and wrote many short reportage and short stories.

In May 1949, according to the instructions of the Party organization, Zhou Erfu led more than 100 cultural figures such as Li Da, Wang Yanan, Shu Xiuwen and Yu Liqun to Beiping. After that, he entered Shanghai with the Third Field Army, and successively served as Secretary General of the United Front Work Department of the East China Bureau, first Vice Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Shanghai Municipal Committee, Secretary of the Party Group of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, Secretary General of the Reception Committee of Foreign guests of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the East China Bureau, and Secretary General of the Shanghai Branch of the China Committee for Safeguarding World Peace.
