Zhou Erfu (1914-2004), a modern writer, originally named Zhou Zu-style, was born in Jingde County, Nanjing. He studied poetry and calligraphy in private schools and was admitted to the English Literature Department of Shanghai Guanghua University in the autumn of 1933. He was arrested for participating in the Progressive student movement at Kwanghwa University. During his studies, he actively participated in left-wing literary and artistic activities, participated in the founding of the Literary Cluster Newspaper, and published his first book of poetry, The Night Walk Collection.
In 1938, after graduating from university, Zhou Erfu went to Yan 'an and served as the chairman of the literary Advisory Committee of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Area Cultural Association. In February 1939, he joined the Party, and in the autumn of the same year, as the leader of the fifth group of the front literature and Art group dispatched by the Border Area Literature Association and the General Political Department of the Eighth Route Army, he went to the Democratic anti-Japanese base of Shanxi-Chaji to participate in the anti-" sweep ", the hundred Regiment War and other battles, recorded a lot of life materials, and wrote many short reportage and short stories.
The cycle of middle age
After the victory of the War of Resistance against Japan, Zhou and resumed as a special agent of Xinhua News Agency and Xinhua Daily, went to various places with the military investigation Office, and wrote a long report titled "With Marshall, Zhang Zhizhong and Zhou Enlai Three Generals on the Tour of North China." After 1946, Zhou Erfu successively served as a member and deputy secretary of the Cultural Work Committee of the South China Branch of the Communist Party of Hong Kong, edited the Northern Literature Collection, introduced and published literary works in the liberated areas. During this period, he wrote "Dr. Bethune", "Yanshu Cliff" and the novella "Children of the West Water", and published a collection of short stories "Plateau Short songs" and "The Year of turning over".
In May 1949, according to the instructions of the Party organization, Zhou Erfu led more than 100 cultural figures such as Li Da, Wang Yanan, Shu Xiuwen and Yu Liqun to Beiping. After that, he entered Shanghai with the Third Field Army, and successively served as Secretary General of the United Front Work Department of the East China Bureau, first Vice Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Shanghai Municipal Committee, Secretary of the Party Group of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, Secretary General of the Reception Committee of Foreign guests of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the East China Bureau, and Secretary General of the Shanghai Branch of the China Committee for Safeguarding World Peace. He extensively united people from all walks of life and actively propagated the policies of the Party and the government on united front, industry and commerce, literature and art, and religion. In 1950, Zhou Erfu participated in the founding of the semi-monthly "Mass Literature and Art", popularizing literature and art and training writers of workers, peasants and soldiers. The following year, as a member of the "Five Rebels" work, in a cotton mill and shop in Shanghai to participate in the "Five rebels" work, accumulated a wealth of life materials, for the creation of a novel "Shanghai Morning" laid the foundation.
In the autumn of 1954, under the instruction of Premier Zhou Enlai, Zhou Erfu participated in the cultural delegation of the Chinese government, successfully visited India, Myanmar and Indonesia, and published a book on Southeast Asia. From 1955, Zhou Erfu successively served as deputy director of the Literature and Art Office of the Shanghai Municipal Government and deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, in charge of literature and art work. Participated in the founding of China's first large-scale literary bimonthly "Harvest". In 1958, he led the Chinese Acrobatic Troupe to visit Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Chile, which enhanced the mutual understanding and friendship between China and Latin American countries. He wrote "Eternal Glory", "Hatred in Guatemala", and published a collection of novellas "Spring in the Valley".
After 1959, Zhou Erfu successively served as a member of the Committee for Foreign Cultural Affairs, a member of the Party Group, a vice chairman of the Association for Foreign Culture, a vice chairman of the China-Japan Friendship Association and a vice chairman of the China-Latin America Friendship Association. He has led Chinese delegations to visit Japan, Mexico, Cuba and other countries. During this period, he wrote the reportage "By the Banks of Nagarakawa" and "On the Cuban Front". He published the essay collection "Torch", the travel book "Sailing on the Atlantic Ocean" and the novel "Shanghai Morning" I and II.

Zhou Erfu is a prolific and prolific writer.
