• Personal information means information recorded electronically or otherwise that can identify a particular natural person, alone or in combination with other information, or reflect the activities of a particular natural person. Personal information includes name, date of birth, ID number, personal biometric information, address, communication contact information, communication records and contents, account password, property information, credit information, whereabouts and track, accommodation information, health and physiological information, transaction information, etc.
• Sensitive personal information refers to personal information that, if leaked, illegally provided or abused, may endanger personal and property safety, and easily lead to personal reputation, physical and mental health damage or discriminatory treatment. Sensitive personal information includes ID card number, personal biometric information, bank account number, communication records and contents, property information, credit information, whereabouts and tracks, accommodation information, health and physiological information, transaction information, and personal information of children under 14 years old.
• Device means a device that can be used to use Baidu products and/or services, such as a desktop device, tablet computer or smartphone.
A unique device identifier (sometimes referred to as a universal exclusive ID or UUID) is a string of characters encoded into a device by the device manufacturer that can be used to uniquely identify the corresponding device (e.g., International Mobile Device Identity Code (IMEI) number, network device hardware address MAC). Different device identifiers vary in terms of their validity, whether users can reset them, and how they are obtained. The corresponding device may have several different unique device identifiers. Unique device identifiers can be used for a variety of purposes, including security and fraud detection, synchronizing services such as a user's email inbox, logging user preferences, and serving relevant ads.
• Cookie refers to a mechanism that enables the server side (or scripts) to store and retrieve information on the client side, extending Web-based client/server applications by adding simple, persistent client state. When the server returns the HTTP object to the client, it sends a status message, which is saved by the client. The range of urls that are valid in that state is described in the status message. Thereafter, HTTP requests made by the client in this range will return the current value of this status information from the client to the server, which is called a Cookie.
• Anonymous identifier means that Baidu generates an identifier, such as BAIDUID and CUID, based on device parameters through machine algorithms to help Baidu identify a user, provide better products and/or services and improve user experience.
• User portrait refers to the process of analyzing or predicting the personal characteristics of a certain natural person, such as his career, economy, health, education, personal preferences, credit, behavior, etc., through the collection, aggregation and analysis of personal information to form his personal characteristics model. The personal information of a specific natural person is directly used to form a characteristic model of the natural person, which is called direct user portrait. The use of personal information from other than a specific natural person, such as the data of the group to which it belongs, to form a characteristic model of the natural person, called indirect user profile.
• Anonymization refers to the process of technical processing of personal information so that the subject of personal information cannot be identified and the processed information cannot be recovered. Personal information obtained after anonymization is not personal information.
• Affiliated companies refer to the single or combined names of Beijing Baidu Netcom Technology Co., LTD., operator of Baidu Encyclopedia, and other companies that have an associated relationship with Baidu.
