A single type of earth dam
Homogeneous earth dam
Also known as homogeneous earth dam. A dam filled with a single soil material. This type of dam has the advantages of simple structure, convenient construction and good adaptability to the geological conditions of the dam foundation. This type of dam is commonly used in the early construction of medium and low height DAMS.

In addition to the main body of the dam, there are drainage, upstream slope protection, downstream slope protection facilities. If the foundation permeable layer is not deep, the clay cutoff flume is commonly used as the seepage prevention facility of dam foundation. If it is deep, facilities such as clay bedding or concrete cutoff walls should be used. Because the shear strength of cohesive soil is lower than that of non-cohesive soil, the dam slope of homogeneous earth dam is slow, the amount of filling works is large, and the construction of cohesive soil is greatly affected by climate, so it is mostly used for medium and low DAMS.
