Letter · China is China Central Television and Beijing Shixi media Culture Co., LTD A joint production of arts and humanities programs by Zhu Jun As host, producer and general director ^[1] , due to Li Youbin , Wu Jing , Huang Bo , Jiang Qinqin , Yang Yang , Zhang Yixing , Wang Junkai , Wang Yuan , Jackson Yee More than 60 artists and actors act as messengers ^[2] .

The program discovers more than 50 unknown stories from more than 2,000 historical letters, and speaks to The Times, history, the soul of the writer and the recipient through multiple means ^[3] . At the same time, stereoscopic projection technology is used to present old photos and video data vividly, creating a movie-like program effect ^[4] .

The show will be broadcast every Friday night from March 9, 2018 at 20:00 CCTV integrated channel premiere ^[5] It closed on June 18, 2018 ^[6] .

In 1997, a rare opportunity to let Zhu Jun on the host stage, almost a quarter of his life, Zhu Jun almost every day received a large number of audience letters, a pen and a drawing of sincerity, let Zhu Jun feel the power of letters. So Zhu decided to make a program about reading letters ^[8] .

Program production

"Letter · China" through 8 months of planning, 4 months of recording, nearly a year, from more than 2,000 letters, more than 50 groups of letters, and according to the writer's age, personality, background, select the "star messenger", gathered Li Youbin , Wu Jing , Huang Bo , Jiang Qinqin , Yang Yang , Zhang Yixing , Wang Junkai , Wang Yuan , Jackson Yee And more than 60 artists and actors ^[2] .

The show marks Zhu's first transition as an independent producer. In the program, Zhu Jun is no longer just the host, but incarnate as the discoverer. After the guests read the letter, he will tell the background of the letter writer, as well as the origin and story between the recipient and the writer, showing the light of humanity of the letter writer ^[9] .

The program takes "letter" as the carrier and conveys the core of "faith, belief, adherence and confidence". Each edition of the program features a selection of "letters that deserve more attention," showing letters written by Chinese Communists since the founding of the Party in 1921, full of the power to "discover, move, shock and excite. ^[5] .

The more than 50 groups of letters selected by the program were carefully selected from more than 2,000 letters from Communist Party members collected since the founding of the Party, including letters from great people, celebrities, and unknown ordinary Communist Party members, spanning from the early days of the founding of the Party and the war years to the early days of the founding of the country, reform and opening up, and the 21st century ^[10] .

In terms of content construction, the program team carried out bold attempts and innovations, pulling the heroic image of the book back to the ordinary people, using the common emotion that the audience can feel, to show the vivid image of the Communist Party of China in the letter text ^[2] .

Program special effects

"Trust China" in the shooting of the use of Pandora's box stereoscopic projection technology. Each video screen of the technology is spliced by 19 laser projections, which can create a 360-degree ring vision, creating a naked eye 3D visual effect for the audience. The technology enables the effect of time travel, allowing the viewer to follow the reader of the letter back to the time when the letter was written. The application of technology also means more expensive investment and all the workers and stars in the recording have to spend more energy and time with the stage ^[11] .
