Lin Ru was born in Tianjin in 1935.
In October 1952, he became an announcer of China National Radio. He has broadcast a large number of news programs and literary and artistic programs, including a series of programs such as "Music Talk", "Popular Symphony Lecture", "Symphony World", "Erhu Lecture", "Piano Appreciation Lecture" and so on.
Since 1986, he has narrated many TV feature films and series, such as the 10-episode series "Long March - Song of Life", the 12-episode series "Let History Tell the Future", the 8-episode series "Love of the Republic", the 13-episode series "Green Great Wall", the 10-episode series "Middle Flow Eye Column", etc., and the feature films "Bamboo", "Ink Dance", "The Lure of Tibet" and so on. He also recorded narration for Japanese TV series "Ashin" and "Life".
