Line trend

The whole line of the Pingnan Railway runs roughly east-west, starting from the east Beijing-kowloon Railway Pinghunan marshalling station, via Longgang District , Longhua District and Nanshan District , west to Shekou Port , Chiwan Port and Mawan [7] In tandem with the western, central and northern regions of Shenzhen [5] .

During the Spring Festival in 1995, the Shenzhen West Station of Pingnan Railway opened a temporary passenger train.
In 1996, the Pyeongnam Railway opened long-distance trains.
During the 2009 Spring Festival rush, there were 5 passenger trains at Sakata Station of the Pingnan Railway.
During the 2010 Spring Festival travel rush, passenger train stops were cancelled at Sakata Station on the Pingnan Railway.
From 2007 to December 28, 2013, only upbound trains stopped at Sakata Station, and all downbound trains to Shenzhen West Station did not stop at this station.
As of 2012, the average daily passenger flow of Sakata Station of Pingnan Railway has dropped to several hundred passengers, and the daily trains stop at Shenzhen West - Shaoyang (K9084/K9085 times), Shenzhen West - Hefei (K256 times), Shenzhen West - Tongren (K9064/K9065 times). [14] .
On December 28, 2013, passenger service ceased at Sakata Station of the Pingnan Railway [15] .
As of 2016, the Shenzhen West Station of Pingnan Railway still retains passenger service, stopping 8 pairs of long-distance passenger trains from Tuding every day, and 6 extra passenger trains will be opened during the Spring Festival [16] .

In the late 1980s, the import and export of goods in Shekou Port, Chiwan port and Mawan Port in the western port area of Shenzhen increased significantly, but there was no railway in the port to restrict the development of the port area. At that time, Guangzhou Railway Bureau, China Merchants Bureau Shekou Industrial Zone, China Merchants Group, Shenzhen Nanshan Development Company jointly prepared to build the Pingnan Railway [7] .
