Rey Mysterio has always dreamed of becoming a wrestling star. As a young man, he trained at a local gym and had a Mexican wrestling style to achieve his dream. His early combat experience in Mexico led him to a bigger stage - starting at ECW and then WCW to fully develop the agile and difficult style you see in 619.
Rey left behind a few good fights during his short time at ECW, as well as a stunning first appearance with WCW in early 1996. It paid off, beating Dean Malenko in July 1996 for his first bantamweight title in eight fights.
Rey has many rival in WCW, including Ultimo Dragon, Malenko, Billy Kidman, Psicosis, Juventud, and Kevin Nash. He also created a career with Eddie Guerrero,Chavo Guerrero, and Chris Jericho, among other future WWE superstars. Mysterio remained with WCW until it was acquired by WWE in 2001.
Recalling his WWE debut in 2002, as a member of Smackdown, he soon began feuding with Kurt Angle. The two battled for months, and even Rey and Edge teamed up to beat Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit in a WWE doubles championship match on Smackdown in November.
Rey's other opponent is Matt Hardy for the lightweight title. Their war raged through the spring of 2003 and culminated in an exciting match at WrestleMania 19. Matt was beaten to death when Rey won the lightweight title in June 2003.

In the following months, the pair lost the WWE Doubles title to MNM in April 2005. Frustrated, Eddie blames Rey for the complete breakup and the summer of bad luck. Heavyweight champion of the world
Batista volunteered to partner with Rey and seek revenge on Kane and Big Show in Armageddon. Only a few days earlier at SmackDown,Rey and Batista defeated MNM for the WWE Doubles title, making Armageddon a doubles title match. At SmackDown, just after Armageddon finished, they lost the title to MNM again.
Eddie's tragedy before the Survivor Series leaves Rey, his best friend, reeling. After Armageddon,Rey decided to make a lifetime goal to get the world heavyweight championship as Eddie's pride. Rey's first shot at the world heavyweight title came in a 20-man fight. Rey made it to the last three, but was eliminated by Mark Henry. Kurt Angle would retain the title, pushing Rey further away from his dream.
Rey's second chance at the world heavyweight title was renewed at the Royal Rumble. His goal is still the same -- Eddie's pride. Just like Eddie did two years ago. However,Rey realizes that this opportunity will not be easy, and is also involved in a feud with Triple H.
