On the morning of July 25, 2014, the Ministry of Civil Affairs held its first regular press conference. The quarterly report of Civil Affairs statistics for the second quarter of 2014 and the reform of the selection method of China Charity Awards were announced. Zhan Chengfu, director of Social welfare and charity Promotion, introduced the major reform in the selection method of the "China Charity Award". The reform has a total of nine aspects, the first is to lengthen the award cycle, reduce the number of commendations, and raise the threshold of "China Charity Awards". The award cycle will be changed from once a year to once every two years, and the number of awards will be reduced from 100 per session in recent years to no more than 50 per session.
The second is no longer a fixed award, but a combination of each selection, the current government work and the specific needs of specific social charity development to determine. Third, a total of 100 representatives who are enthusiastic about charity in all aspects will be invited to form a judge base for the "China Charity Award". Social participation will also be highlighted, such as an online vote for each list. In addition, it is worth noting that in this reform, the lifetime honorary title is also involved, and individuals who have won the "China Charity Award" for a total of 10 years or five consecutive years in the future can be awarded the honorary title of "Chinese Philanthropist" as a lifetime honor.
