Teaching construction

National defense characteristics

School and origin Beijing Military Region , Guangzhou Military Region Signed the "Joint Training of Cadres Agreement", the scale of recruitment and selection of national defense students ranks among the top universities in the country, and is the first university in the former Beijing Military Region to allocate national defense students to the entire army. In 2001, it took the lead in establishing the Reserve Officer Education College, an independent national defense student education and training institution in the country, creating a precedent of "on-campus military school". At the same time, it is the first innovative university in China to implement the training mode of national defense students as military training instructors for ordinary college students. In June 2007, the College of National Defense Science and Technology was established, and its management committee was composed of the Shanxi Provincial government, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and various military industry groups. In September 2017, the school successfully passed the evaluation and identification of "Military Culture Demonstration Unit" and "China Military Culture Park" of National Defense Science and Technology Industry ^[72] .

Military culture demonstration unit

The university has the longest underground shooting range in the country, and the most complete and well-preserved bullet and arrow galleries, artillery galleries and firearms galleries in all colleges and universities in the country. The terminal damage laboratory, which covers the largest area of TNT equivalent, has been built into Shanxi Weapons Engineering virtual simulation experiment teaching Center ^[73] . Deeply integrated into the development strategy of military-civilian integration, Shanxi Province and Taiyuan City plan to build a "military-civilian integration innovation science and Technology Park" with North University of China as the core, covering an area of 1,500 mu, including "three districts and one hospital" such as college students' double innovation area, university scientific and technological innovation research pilot area, achievement transformation incubation area and military-civilian integration research Institute. ^[7] .

China Military Industry Cultural Park

As of October 2016, the school has sent more than 2,000 graduate defense students to the military, distributed in the army, navy, air force, rocket Force, strategic Support Force and other military services, and four graduate defense students have served in the United Nations peacekeeping missions in Lebanon, Liberia and South Sudan ^[74] .

From 1996 to 2019, the school has more than 70 achievements applied to "Shenzhou", "Chang 'e", "Tiangong", "Beidou", "Fuxing", "Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge" and other projects, especially the "mechanical parameter measurement sensor", as a representative scientific research achievement, its technology has been in the leading level in China.
